This drill combines many aspects of training such as soccer related skills, speed, agility and intensity. Firstly the whole drill is in a triangular formation so that once the athlete reaches the cones B,C,D,E, they will use one foot to burst into a slightly different direction focusing on agility. Then the athlete will sprint maximally, allowing them to train and increase their speed, but also practice dribbling the ball at such pace. A soccer players touch is very important, and especially harder the faster the player is running. This drill focuses mainly on endurance and the aerobic capacity which is essential in becoming a good soccer player. Players should be able to play for the full game time, putting 100% effort at all times. This exercise will help players to achieve that outcome
This drill focuses and trains the players' dribbling, running, going through opponents, and tackling. The white players need to dribble around without getting tackled whether they are tired or not. This focuses the players endurance. For the red players, tackling is harder than usual since they will only be allowed specific movements. This means that the red players will have to tackle in awkward positions that could happen in real life game situations.
At first the red players should attack passively, but should switch to active attacking to increase the intensity for the players. Also making the rectangular box smaller should be done later to make the players use less space, making them focus on controlling even more |
